The True Constant… Our Rescue
Many people… so many people are in great need this week… anxious… overwhelmed… desperately ill and faint… grieving… feeling alone and utterly abandoned… confused-angry by a sucker punch they didn’t see coming… Some are asking, “Where is God in all this?” Yes… where is God?
God is here. He hasn’t left. He is still here. You may have only recognized his presence in the good times… when you got that promotion or at the birth of your first born son… you may have assumed that God only shows up at Christmas… when all is perfect in the world and joy bursts forth with wild abandon…but God loves you and is present in all seasons… summer and winter and springtime and harvest. He being the consummate parent is there for you during good times and bad times… especially the bad times. He wants to comfort you by easing your pain… drawing you up in his loving and tender arms to let you know, He is here. He says, “I am here. I am here for you.”
God is the constant in the equation of life. When everything has turned upside down or you feel trapped like a bird in a cage… when there is confusing and disorienting chaos, lost and adrift in an ocean of overwhelming grief, God is. God is! God is our peace. God is our direction. God is our joy. God never, ever changes. We change but God is.
In the world of mathematics and theoretical science as you plan, factor and solve… for any equation… you must begin with a constant. The constant holds all the changes and manipulations true. This is a universal principle in the world and in our life. The constant is required. Life is hard. Life changes… manipulations are required. Without a constant, you will become embittered, disillusioned, lost and adrift…
If you know God, you know that He is all you need. He is your provision. If you do not know God, He would like to reveal himself to you. But you must remember that God is not tame. God is.
When we first go to Him, God overwhelms us. We see His beautiful but burning and consuming light which exposes the evil we have nurtured, eaten and slept with.
If we truly turn to him and seek him, God can and will cut away the evil and wash us clean. We just need ask; “Will it hurt?” You bet, but it is necessary for God to cut out the evil, this insidious infection… all of it… even the parts that are deep or are festering in our tender places. He will clean and wash us and dress the wounds with tender mercy.
God loves us so much that He made a way for us to come back to him. He designed our rescue. How? God, the creator of the universe and all that is created, became a man, a perfect man without evil. Then he took on our evil to spare us from the consequence. The consequence? Yes, there is a consequence; it is death. But we do not have to experience it. God has a rescue for us. God loved us this much.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in
him may not die but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Will you accept Gods gift… God can and will rescue especially now in your great need… God is. God’s arms are strong and He can be your constant in this time of chaos. Go to him. He is here for you in every season but especially now. Cry out to him and receive your rescue.
“Call on me in times of trouble. I will rescue you, and you will honor me.” Psa 50:15
“If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be
saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we
are saved.” Rom 10:9-10
